Increase your confidence, the power of your voice, and expression of truth. Recognize your unique abilities through self-inquiry and personal life experiences to create practices that are compelling, meaningful, and sustainable. Yoga teaching is more than just teaching asana. This 200 hour yoga teacher training intensive programme teaches you how to build an integrated practice through asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, sound healing, mantra, bhavana, meditation, ritual, guided self-inquiry, relaxation, lifestyle practices, and their appropriate application as an inner process. WEEK 2: PURIFY THE MIND
FOUNDATIONAL ROOTS OF PRACTICE
The first module establishes you in the fundamental principles and roots of yoga to awaken the body, purify the mind and cultivate embodied awareness from a grounded place. Through the body and breath, mind and energetics, and the science of Ayurveda, we immerse into the practice, philosophy, psychology and techniques of yoga. You will gain a profound understanding of the foundational asanas, functional alignment for safe physical practice, how to use breath effectively, and an understanding of chakras, nadis and koshas. We explore the asana categories forward bends, backbends, laterals, twists and extension and their relationship to energy cultivation, and the elements of earth, water, fire and air. Experiential anatomy and daily teaching practice will allow you to easily apply key alignment principles and develop healthy movement patterns with importance placed on the spine, pelvic and lumbar stability, core stabilization, shoulders and neck. Meditation, mindfulness, yoga nidra, working with emotions, sound healing and mantra is also integrated in a way that it becomes a seamless practice. The power of sound opens up the vibrational field of resonance to create deep shifts, relaxation and meditative states easily.
MODULE 2 – EMPOWER

TAKING THE SEAT OF A TEACHER
The focus of the second module is self-empowerment in developing a personal practice, and empowering others through the art of being a skilful and inspiring teacher. Discover the skills and art of teaching, voice and language, adjustments, sequencing and themes with plenty of actual teaching practice. Transmit to others what you have embodied in module one, express and share your unique gifts from direct personal experience. FULL CURRICULUM
ASANA – KEY POSES
Asana is the starting point for deep inquiry and experiential practice. Daily guided asana practice with a specific theme or focus will relate to the explorations in the afternoon sessions. In asana labs we investigate the bio-mechanics, function and alignment of fundamental asanas within the main postural classifications – sun salutations, standing poses, forward bends, twists, hip openers, core, backbends, inversions and arm balances. A detailed overview is given for the therapeutic benefits, contra-indications, preparation and counter pose, modifications, adaptations, variations, energetic effects and emotional qualities. We experience strengthening (heating) Yang and relaxing (cooling) Yin practices.
Integrate the teachings of Mindfulness from the Buddhist tradition with Hatha Yoga practices, cultivating mindful awareness in the postures and the principles of inner alignment through the breath, into a seamless moving meditation. Emphasis is placed on what is arising inside rather than getting the posture ‘right’ in a rigid way, to reveal the true essence of practice. We investigate flow sequences, repetitive movements, and static holds of postures through intelligent sequencing, as well as the how, why and when of using props. Develop a personalised practice that addresses what you really need so is practice is true connection, relationship and self-empowerment.
HISTORY, PHILOSOPHY & PSYCHOLOGY
The Yogasutras of Patanjali, the 2000 year old text on yoga, are at the root of all yoga practice. Core principles and wisdom of the Yogic Path such as the Eight Limbs of Yoga, the Yamas and Niyamas, Kriya Yoga will be presented and explored making it applicable to modern daily life. Further scriptural study is based on the classical texts of Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Yoga Yajnavalkya. Understand the path of Hatha Yoga and order of progression in practices.
Core insights from the Sutras and Buddhist teachings also offer a profound perspective on the functioning of the nature of the mind and gives us methods to reduce negative patterns and identifications through Mindfulness. We study the vritti and samskara cycle, the kleshas, emotions, and learn practical tools for body, speech, and mind, to bring mental balance and calm.
PRANAYAMA, BANDHA & MUDRA
Engage in the of the science of breath, the principles of prana and pranayama, through simple to more advanced powerful breathing techniques in seated position as well as in asana. Learn 10 essential types of pranayama, with an introduction to ratios and retention of breath, as well as specific applications for individual needs and effects, health care, vitality, mental clarity, and heating or cooling internal conditions. Breath is the bridge between body and mind, and the key to optimal movement patterns, mental steadiness, and soothing the nervous system; the breath is life.
Bandhas are an extension of the breath, powerful ‘locks’ to cultivate internal energy and focus. Mudras are ‘seals’ or ‘gestures’ to retain vital energy. Understand and experience their effect on the physical, physiological and psychological system.
MEDITATION, MINDFULNESS & COMPASSION
Establish a firm foundation in Yogic and Buddhist forms of meditation, a powerful tool to cultivate awareness and move beyond dualistic perception. A daily seated meditation practice is an integral part of our trainings including periods of silence (mauna) in the mornings and some evenings to support a deeper insight into one’s essential nature. Investigate the mind-body network and its importance for well-being, through modern day mindfulness-based tools, to access acceptance and non-judgemental awareness. As well as embodiment practices and compassion based methods for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual transformation.
The Four Foundations of Mindfulness from Buddhism is incorporated, towards the cultivation of present moment awareness and embodied insight, as well as the development of wisdom and compassion. We will incorporate shamatha (calm abiding) on the breath, loving kindness (metta) and compassion (karuna) practices. As well as mantra meditation, Yoga Nidra, contemplations, working with thought and emotion, and visualization. The ultimate goal of Yoga is to go beyond our conditioning and self-imposed roles, beyond likes and dislikes, and rest in a natural state of awareness that lies deep within us all.
SACRED SOUND (NADA YOGA)
Sound, frequency and vibration is one of the most powerful tools to release stress, remove emotional blocks and activate self-healing mechanisms in the body. The power of sound opens up the vibrational field of resonance to induce a deep meditative state and bring deep transformation on all levels of being. Feel inspired by the origins, science and theory of sound, and how to use voice, mantra (Sanskrit & Tibetan) and vocal toning as an important tool in the process of meditation, and how to incorporate into your classes. As well as sound healing tools to induce a deep meditative state bringing you effortlessly into deep relaxation, gain steady focus of the mind, or for holistic healing purposes. There is no Yoga without sound, and no sound without Yoga.

WHAT YOGA DO WE TEACH?
During the 200h Yoga Teacher Training you will explore a powerful breath-centred Hatha Yoga practice incorporating variations of traditional postures, ratios of breath, bandha, mantra, sound and vinyasa krama (intelligent sequencing) through slow repetitive movement for internal focus of the mind, as taught by Sri T. Krishnamacharya, honouring the ancient origins of yoga. The fundamental principles being to develop steadiness of the mind, and cultivate efficient and integrated movement patterns, especially in the spine. We use the breath as a powerful tool for restoring structural, functional and psychological balance. At the heart of the teachings of Krishnamacharya was adapting the practice to suit the individual and so particular emphasis is placed on empowering you to find what your individual expression of Yoga is.
You will also engage in a functional alignment-based Hatha Vinyasa Yoga as a Slow Flow with emphasis on the breath and mindfulness. Influenced by the more dynamic flow practices, as well as static holding of poses to increase strength and flexibility.
The Art of Restorative Yoga brings a state of deep relaxation and calming of the nervous system. A wonderful accompaniment to any practice and your daily life.
Chinese Taoist Arts are also utilised to stimulate the meridians (energy channels), encourage healthy organ function and harness internal energy, working with the elements from the Chinese Taoist system. Gentle Yin Yoga increases receptivity, creating a deeply profound practice that invites deep inner listening and presence.

300 HOUR YOGA ALLIANCE CERTIFICATION
A 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is really only the start of the journey. Within a year or two most students find that they are ready to take an Advanced Level Training to increase their knowledge, skill set and refine their teaching.
Pure Nature Yoga will be offering 300h Advanced Yoga Alliance Certification:
29 June – 11 August, 2022
This training will have specialized focus on Therapeutic Essentials, Meditation & Mindfulness, Sound & Mantra. These will be delivered in 100 hour module blocks. This will allow you to register with Yoga Alliance at RYT 500 Level. The modules will each have a specific focus and so if you are interested in only one you will receive 100h Certification.
YACEP
Pure Nature Yoga is also YACEP with Yoga Alliance and will be offering short programmes from 15 – 50 hours from 2022. These will include CE credits with Yoga Alliance for Yoga Teachers. This is a good way to keep you registration up to date and enhance your skills without taking a 300 hour programme.
LOCATION
Our training is offered amidst the beauty and serenity of Koh Yao Noi, one of the lesser developed islands of Western Thailand. Located in the very picturesque Phang Nga Bay between Krabi and Phuket. The natural beauty of its many sandy beaches with superb views of the towering limestone rocks of the bay along the east side, and the mangrove forests, pine trees and rice fields on the West, provides the perfect sanctuary for in depth practice and solitude. The Island Yoga Retreat Centre provides the wonderful Yogi environment with beautiful yoga shalas and Yogi Cafe. The teacher trainings are held in the modern Bhakti Hall, fully equipped with Manduka Yoga mats, cork and foam blocks, straps, bolsters, cushions, restorative sandbags, and fold up yoga chairs.
The modern state of the art Bhakti Hall provides a large bright safe space for trainings, with incredible acoustics for sound practices, and long wall space for inversions and other asanas. Situated on the Island Yoga site in its own environment, surrounded by garden and water fountains. Away from the other yoga shalas and restaurant this space allows you to fully focus on your direct experience of the Yoga teachings.
50 Hour Intensive Sound Healing Training
Combine 200h YTT with 50 Hour (7 Day) Sound Healing Certification
The 200h Yoga Teacher Training includes a Holistic Healing with Sound Basic Certification in Tibetan Singing Bowls and Tuning Forks. For those students who wish to further their studies and skills even more particularly in the field of sound, comprehensive courses in Sound Healing (Integrative Vibrational Therapy) are offered after each 200h Yoga Teacher Training.
A 7 day comprehensive 50 Hour Intensive Sound Healing Certification is offered after the Yoga Teacher Training. This certification provides the opportunity to explore Gongs, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tuning Forks, Drums, Crystal Singing Bowls, Flute, Voice and other healing instruments for one-on-one treatments and group Sound Baths. The programme includes Level 1 Singing Bowls (3 day) and Gong Foundations (2 day) courses, which are also offered separately by Pure Nature Yoga.
