THE HIMALAYAN EXPERIENCE
An Immersive Panoramic Yoga Trek to Pikey Peak, Nepal
22 November – 4 December 2026
If you’re ready to bring more peace, positivity and happiness into your life, join this Buddhistic Yoga Trek Nepal, connect deeply to the natural wilderness and authentic Sherpa culture. Roni Lynette Jones, C-IAYT Yoga Therapist, Tibetan Buddhist practitioner and Elemental Sound Therapist; and Sahadev Rana Magar (Himalaya Travel Adventures), Ultimate Trekking Guide, will take you on a Panoramic Himalayan pilgrimage of traditional culture, Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and Nepal’s most majestic snow-capped mountains seen in the glow of sunrise from the summit of the magical Pikey Peak.
Are you ready to awaken to the Wisdom of the Himalayas?
More than simply a trek, this is a Himalayan pilgrimage—an invitation to reconnect with your pure nature. It is a unique fusion of Yoga, Mindfulness, Meditation and Sacred Sound (Pure Nature Yoga), combined with four to seven hours of guided trekking each day through the spectacular landscapes of Solukhumbu, reaching an altitude of 4,065 metres at the summit of Pikey Peak. Every day offers the opportunity to cultivate awareness through movement, breath, silence and nature, allowing the mountains themselves to become your greatest teacher. Trekking in the Himalayas is a truly life-changing experience.
IMAGINE…waking up to breathtaking Himalayan sunrises, crisp mountain air, the stillness of nature, and morning Yoga surrounded by panoramic views stretching from Dhaulagiri and Annapurna in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east. Standing atop Pikey Peak (4,065m), one of Nepal’s finest viewpoints, witness the golden light of sunrise illuminating the world’s highest mountains, including the majestic Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and countless snow-capped summits. Trek through pristine alpine forests alive with rhododendron, pine and juniper, across rolling highland ridges, yak pastures and traditional Sherpa villages rich in wildlife, medicinal plants and Himalayan bird life. Far from the crowds of Nepal’s more famous trekking routes, this peaceful region retains its authentic mountain culture, warm hospitality and timeless beauty.
Our journey begins in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, where we have time to explore the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Nepal. Visit the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, the ancient hilltop temple of Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and the sacred meditation caves of Pharping. Wander through bustling bazaars filled with colourful textiles, handcrafted treasures, Newari architecture and delicious local cuisine.
We close our journey in the ancient royal city of Bhaktapur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Nepal’s best-preserved medieval cities. Wander through its enchanting maze of narrow cobbled streets, beautifully carved wooden temples, peaceful courtyards and magnificent Newari architecture. Soak up the rich culture and timeless atmosphere as local artisans continue centuries-old traditions of pottery, woodcarving and weaving, and immerse yourself in the living history and spiritual heart of the Kathmandu Valley.
Return home feeling deeply nourished, inspired and renewed, carrying with you the clarity, peace and spaciousness that arise from living simply amongst the sacred Himalayas, where every sunrise, every breath and every step becomes part of your own inner journey.
Nestled within the lower Solukhumbu, the homeland of the Sherpa people, Pikey Peak lies in a landscape deeply rooted in Tibetan Buddhism and Himalayan spirituality. These sacred mountains have inspired practitioners, pilgrims and explorers for centuries. Prayer flags dance in the mountain winds, ancient mani stones line the trails, and beautifully crafted chortens and monasteries remind us that this is a living spiritual landscape where nature and Buddhist philosophy exist in harmony. Every step becomes an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the simplicity and wisdom found in the mountains.
Walking through welcoming Sherpa villages at elevations between 2,800 and 4,000 metres, we stay in comfortable family-run teahouses, experiencing genuine Himalayan hospitality and gaining insight into a culture where Buddhist practice remains woven into everyday life. Each day offers the perfect balance of mindful trekking, Yoga, meditation, quiet reflection and inner stillness.

KATHMANDU
Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is an incredibly diverse city of culture and lifestyle, where ancient traditions rub shoulders with the latest technology. It is like stepping back in time, or into another world with its rich history of religions, arts and architecture. The city is charming, chaotic, bustling, serene, spiritual, alive and asleep – all at once. It is totally unique and different to anywhere you’ll visit in the world and with it’s sensory overload it is nothing short of fascinating. The curious traveler can expand their horizons with breath taking Newari architecture, Hindu and Buddhist Temples, quaint vibrant streets, cosy restaurants, and an over abundance of arts, crafts and clothing shops.
The city stands at an elevation of approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) in the bowl-shaped Kathmandu Valley of central Nepal. It is surrounded by four major mountains: Shivapuri, Phulchoki, Nagarjun, and Chandragiri. Kathmandu Valley is part of three districts (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur), and has the highest population density in the country. Kathmandu is our start and end point for the trek each year, and a great place to stock up on supplies or buy gifts to take home.
PIKEY PEAK
The Pikey Peak Trek is one of the most rewarding and lesser-known trekking experiences in Nepal’s lower Solukhumbu region. Far from the busier Everest Base Camp route, the trail remains peaceful and relatively untouched by mass tourism, allowing visitors to experience the genuine warmth of mountain hospitality and the slower rhythm of life in the Himalayas. The trek reaches the summit of Pikey Peak (4,065m), widely regarded as one of Nepal’s finest viewpoints, where an unforgettable sunrise reveals an extraordinary panorama stretching from Dhaulagiri and Annapurna in the west to Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga in the east.
The region also holds an important place in Himalayan mountaineering history. Sir Edmund Hillary, who first summited Mount Everest in 1953, is said to have described the view of Everest from Pikey Peak as his favourite in all of Nepal.
The Solukhumbu region is the ancestral homeland of the Sherpa people, whose lives have been deeply influenced by Tibetan Buddhism for centuries. Ancient monasteries, intricately carved mani walls, colourful prayer flags, spinning prayer wheels and beautifully crafted chortens are woven into the landscape, reflecting a profound spiritual connection between the people and the mountains they call home. Daily life here continues to revolve around Buddhist values of compassion, simplicity and respect for nature, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience a living Himalayan culture that has remained remarkably well preserved.
ACCOMMODATION & MEALS
Kathmandu at the start of the trip and Bhaktapur at the end of the trip provides us with a bit more luxury than during the trek, so we stay in beautiful hotels, twin share deluxe rooms, with breakfast included. The city is vibrant and offers many cafes and restaurants to explore and sample the local dishes, as well as Asian or International if you prefer. A welcome dinner is our opportunity to gather for the first time and get to know each other, over wonderful Nepalese cuisine, as well a farewell dinner on the last night.
During the trek we really go back to basics with a simple bed in shared rooms, communal dining rooms, and sometimes hot, but mostly cold showers. Most of the accommodation is in home stays with the locals, sometimes in Buddhist monasteries and other times in simple guesthouses. This way we get to sample the real way of life of the local culture, and hospitality of the people who welcome you with large smiles and yak butter tea! The meals are also simple the more remote we trek, cooked in the local villages. The traditional meal of Nepal is dal bhat, a nutritious dish of rice with lentils and vegetable curry. If you have special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance.
MY INSPIRATION
I always had the desire to travel to Nepal and Tibet, nowhere else in the world had this effect on me. I spent my 20s traveling through these countries, as well as India and South East Asia, which led me to spend 16 months living in Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries/Centres in Nepal and the UK. Since then I have dedicated my life to the path of Yoga & Buddha Dharma, living in Asia full time for sixteen years now.
First arriving in Nepal in 2003 traveling overland from Lhasa, Tibet, to Kathmandu, as a young 25 year old, I remember it being an awe inspiring journey! The rugged terrain, alpine scenery and waterfalls cascading over the jeeps along the meandering cliff edge route. The vibrancy of Nepal, the mountains, the colours, sites, smells and deep richness of Tibetan Buddhism and the Nepali people gained a special place in my heart. Returning many times, I lived in Pullahari Monastery, Kathmandu, studying Buddhist Philosophy for three months in 2006, and my current teacher has a monastery in Kathmandu, Tergar Osel Ling.
Another thing, I love walking! It clears my mind, it connects me to nature, and it opens me to the vastness of life and possibility, tuning into something much bigger than myself. I never owned a vehicle when I lived in the West, I walked or cycled everywhere. I have trekked above 5200m three times, completing the Everest Base Camp Trek, Nepal side (2005) at 5364m, and Tibet side (2003), at 5200m, as well as the Holy Mt. Kailash Kora in Tibet (2011) at 5630m.
Sahadev and I first collaborated on Sacred Himalaya – Tsum Valley Trek in 2023 which was a wonderful success. We now bring you the exciting sunrise adventure of Pikey Peak. Passionate about sharing my love for Yoga, the mountains and Tibetan Buddhism, and with Sahadev’s expertise in mountain life, it is our pleasure to assist you on this journey developing wisdom and compassion.

FAQs
1. Why should I choose Himalaya Travel Adventures to organize my trek/expedition?
HTA are the local trekking agency with experience of more than 15 years in the tourism field. Their guides and trekking staff are government authorized with yearly enhancing the different kind of tourism courses. Every year they organize trek and tour with 99% successful rate in the Himalaya.
2. Why should I choose Pure Nature Yoga for my Yoga Trek experience?
Roni is a highly experienced Yoga Teacher and Therapist able to cater for beginner students as well as more advanced. She also has 25 years experience in Tibetan Buddhism and meditation to support your practice and experience of the Tibetan culture. Roni also has frequently traveled to Nepal and undergone various high altitude treks herself. Together HTA and PNY provide a unique opportunity to combine Yoga and Trekking with highly knowledgeable guides and teachers.
2. What if I have never been trekking before?
Himalaya Travel Adventures are appropriate for beginners/experienced people. It is expected that you should be in good physical shape prior to the trek/expedition, that you maintain a regular exercise routine, walking, cycling or jogging, and that you are able to walk 4-8 hours per day for most days during trek. The Tsum Valley Trek is a moderate trek suitable for keen walkers/trekkers who are able to walk with a light rucksack. The homestays and accommodation along the way is very basic, with quite often cold showers, so we will be roughing it a little bit, but it all adds to the experience!
3. How about Altitude Sickness during the trek ?
HTA does their best in itinerary for the pacing and progression to altitude adjustment during high altitude treks. Sahadev (our guide) closely monitors the effects of altitude on clients/trekkers, and in case of sickness, he can move you quickly to a lower altitude. Altitude sickness can occur above 3000 meters, especially if you rise too fast, which is caused by an oxygen deficiency in the brain. The highest altitude we go on the Tsum Valley Trek is 4060m, and we try to minimize the risk of altitude sickness by not climbing more than 500 meters per day, but total prevention is not guaranteed. The guide will keep a watchful eye if you notice a headache, nausea or dizziness.
4. What if I need medical assistance at some point during the trip?
In case of an emergency, our staff are well trained and know how to facilitate medical treatment and emergency transport. In the mountains they do our best in the most effective way possible. Please ensure you have travel and medical insurance for high altitude.
5. What kind of Yoga do we do?
We engage in simple warming exercises, especially if it is really cold at the higher altitudes, which leads into a Hatha Slow Flow with emphasis on the breath and mindfulness. Some repetitive movements to support the body and breath for trekking, as well as some static holds of postures, to increase strength and flexibility. Pranayama (breath techniques), Sound and Meditation will support our practice for deeper experiences especially in this sacred land. As we practice and walk we increase receptivity and inner listening. Yoga spaces will be simple and mainly outdoors.
6. How much luggage can I bring?
It is always best to travel light! Porters will carry your main bags which will be restricted in weight, usually around 15kg. You will receive a packing list once registered for the trip to help you with prioritizing. Buy lightweight goods such as sleeping bag (can be hired), yoga mat (if you bring) etc. You will be expected to carry a small day pack with essential items in such as water, waterproof jacket, snacks, warm top etc. Remember we are going back to basics so use this as an opportunity to live with less. You can buy many supplies in Kathmandu also for a cheaper price than in the West. You will definately need a good pair of hiking boots! Your main luggage and valuables can be stored at the hotel.
7. Which vaccinations are recommended for Nepal?
There are some travel vaccinations that are recommended as standard when you go to Nepal: Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid fever and DTP. Consult your Doctor or the Medical Clinic for personal advice. Also take a good look at your health insurance policy and check whether it offers global coverage.
8. Where can I get my visa for Nepal?
In Europe, USA, or Australia you can easily go to the consulate of Nepal in your home country to apply for your e-visa. If you have the correct documents with you, they will be issued immediately. You can get a visa for 15, 30 or 90 days. Alternatively please check if your country is eligible for a visa on arrival.
9. What is the climate like in Nepal?
There are five seasons in Nepal: winter, spring, summer, monsoon and autumn. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons, because the chance of clear weather is greatest. In November/December it is winter the coldest months, so an ideal time for trekking with clear blue skies. Temperatures can drop at night to below minus degrees, while during the day it can reach up to 20 degrees.
10. Which currency is used?
The currency is the Nepalese Rupee. It is easy to exchange money when you arrive or use an ATM. You can spend around 500 Rupees per day – 5 euros converted on little necessities.
11. Social Responsibility: Giving back
This is a Not-for-Profit trip where the profit all goes to the local people in Nepal I’m working with. Most people in Nepal are still rebuilding their house after the earthquakes and the pandemc, and have a hard time getting money for healthcare etc. Some people don’t have the money to send their kids to school (especially in the less-visited mountain villages). This trek is thus bringing great benefit to the local people.

EXPERIENCE VERY UNIQUE
I joined this trek with a group of 9 women in the Tsum Valley, combined with daily Yoga. We had an amazing time! Sahadev and his team are wonderful people, always caring for each of us, we always felt very safe during the trek. Sahadev and his team always made us feel happy, secure, and welcome in this wonderful country. He was always 100% available for each of us, and was sharing the local culture which made this experience very unique. Sahadev will make you love Nepal, so trust him 100% and you will not be disappointed!
DIVERSITY AND CREATIVITY
Roni is a well developed yoga teacher and I admire her devotion to the Buddhist principals. I feel I have gained maximum benefits in her classes both in alignment and awareness. She brings a lot of diversity and creativity in her classes. I really enjoyed how she shares her insight at the beginning of the class, which is very nurturing and offers the space in the practice to really breathe through it all. Roni pays close attention to the needs of each individual yet moving along well as a group.
