Class Descriptions:
Mindful Flow
A dynamic slow Hatha flow of enlivening postures, activating and nourishing sequences, deeply rooted in the breath and the practice of mindfulness. Surrender to the breath, feel your whole body and notice the nature of the mind. Using principles of functional alignment regaining healthy spinal mobility to support and develop the breath. Combining flowing sequences, repetition in postures, longer held postures and conscious breath awareness leaves a vibrant feeling of intimacy with life. Classes are insightful, creative and cultivate deep presence and awareness. Exploration of yoga philosophy, therapeutic elements, bio-mechanical principles and creative themes of the mind-body connection are delicately woven throughout & underpins the essence of the practice. Classical Hatha
Krishnamacharya taught a method of linking the movement of your body to the movement of your breath through intense concentration that creates a profound link between the mind and body. We emphasize inner energy cultivation through proper breathing combined with movement, as the breath is a powerful tool for restoring structural, functional and psychological balance. Rather than more “difficult” asana it is about advancing a practice from the inside out. Moving with awareness, steady focus of the mind, and conscious regulation of the breath intensifies the physical level naturally and produces profound effects. Classical postures, variations and adaptations along with other tools of hatha yoga may be incorporated to emphasise certain aspects. We focus on efficient & integrated movement patterns, consciously regulating the breath, and sequencing the postures intelligently (Vinyasa Krama) to maximize the benefits of practice. Elemental Candlelight Yin Yoga & Sacred Sound
Explore your ‘edge’ both physically, mentally and emotionally in this deeply grounding and nourishing class. Accompanied by the harmonious sounds of 17 Tibetan Singing Bowls and Meridian Tuning Forks specific to each Chinese acupuncture meridian (energy channel) working elementally each session. Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath
Restorative Yoga is the art and science of deep relaxation. Experience deeply nourishing floor postures held for extended periods of time fully supported by bolsters, cushions and blocks to stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms to a soothing soundtrack. Myofascial Explorations
Explore safe and effective self-myofascial techniques to release the connective tissue (fasica) and ease structural tightness and chronic pain. A deep form of self-massage using blocks and small balls to break down scar tissue, relax the muscles, correct posture, and restore mobility and function. When fascia is damaged it tightens and pulls in a specific area of the body restricting movement in the rest of the body also. We will uncover ways to release the upper body, mainly for shoulders, neck and chest, and the lower back, hips and pelvis. Set to soothing music, learn to work with the breath, cultivate an attitude of mindfulness, and understand your body in a whole new way. Enhance structural balance, energy flow and self-awareness while calming and bringing the mind into the present moment. Restorative Yoga Therapeutics
A more engaged restorative class, a therapeutic blend of Yin, Myofascial Release and Restorative Yoga to help you unwind, release and let go of those stubborn knots in your body and your mind. Explore fascial work as well as gentle engagement of the muscles leading into complete relaxation. Cultivate mindful presence and breathing in postures supported by blocks, rolls and chairs before resting in more nourishing postures to help you release and let go of unwanted tension. Learn more about your body, dismantle chronic tension patterns and boost feelings of well being.

Small Group Therapeutic Classes
Small group classes with a specialized focus, is designed to meet the needs, capabilities, life circumstances and goals of each student. They are supportive for those healing from structural challenges such as chronic back pain and joint restrictions, specific health conditions, as well as mental health such as stress, anxiety and depression. Similarly if a group of people are interested in a certain aspect of Yoga Philosophy we will be happy to discuss this with you. If you are a group of 3 or more a regular specialized class or lecture can be arranged upon request.
These classes are useful for:
- Reducing pain and discomfort
- Overcoming physical illness, injury, or other health concerns
- Emotional balance, reducing stress and anxiety, and overcoming depression
- Preventing illness or injury, and increasing flexibility and strength
- A sense of community and support among those dealing with similar conditions
The group atmosphere provides a safe way to explore your current boundaries and limitations in a supportive environment. Postures are adapted and modified as is appropriate and so chairs and yoga props may be used. Learn more about your body and condition, alleviate pain and tension, find peace of mind and feel empowered.
